ＪＡＸＡ、民間宇宙船を初運用 ＮＡＳＡ通じ受注 [日経]

宇宙航空研究開発機構（ＪＡＸＡ）が初めて民間宇宙船の運用を担うことになった。米オービタル・サイエンシズが５月に打ち上げる無人宇宙船「シグナス」初号機の運用を、米航空宇宙局（ＮＡＳＡ）を通じて２億円で受注した。
シグナスはＪＡＸＡの無人輸送船「ＨＴＶ（愛称・こうのとり）」と同型の三菱電機が作った通信システムを搭載している。地上基地のデータベースはＪＡＸＡと共通のものを使うため、ＪＡＸＡが運用を支援する。
シグナスは国際宇宙ステーション（ＩＳＳ）へ物資を運ぶ無人宇宙船で、年１〜２回のペースで計８機打ち上げられる予定。
ちょっと面白い展開です。受注とまで言うからにはバックアップするというレベルではないですよね。まあ正式発表はまだ無いので詳細は分かりませんが。
ちなみにこの記事では初号機の打ち上げが5月に行われるとありますが…

The COTS demo flight – where the first Cygnus spacecraft would attempt to rendezvous and berth with the ISS – would be performed around 3 months after the Antares test flight, giving a tentative date of early July for the COTS demo flight.
Finally, the first Antares/Cygnus CRS flight would occur 3-4 months after the COTS demo flight, giving a tentative timeframe of early October-early November for the first Orbital CRS flight – although November has issues from a flight scheduling standpoint, due to a Beta angle cut-out from Nov 2 to Nov 9, and then a period where only one US crewmember will be present on the ISS (thus creating issues for Visiting Vehicle captures) from Nov 10 to Nov 25.
先日の記事ではアンタレスロケットの試験打ち上げが5月、シグナスの試験打ち上げがその3ヶ月後の7月、運用初号機が10月以降とあります。
■Cargo Resupply Services [Orbital]
January 2013
- Completion of cold flow testing (aka wet dress rehearsals): The Antares team has completed all but one test. The last test is expected to be completed before the end of January.
- "Hot Fire" test of Antares first stage: To be conducted at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), located at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. This is the last major ground test before the first Antares flight and is expected to be conducted in February.
- Test Flight of the Antares rocket from MARS/Wallops: The mission will carry a heavily instrumented mass simulator for data gathering, not an operational Cygnus spacecraft. The test flight is expected to be conducted in March, approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the hot fire test.
- COTS Demonstration mission to the ISS: This mission involves an Antares launch carrying a fully operational Cygnus spacecraft that will rendezvous and berth with the International Space Station (ISS) to demonstrate the full capabilities of the cargo resupply system. Orbital is working with NASA's ISS program to identify an available time window for Cygnus to arrive at the ISS. Current candidate slots are in May and June.
オービタル社によるとアンタレスの試験打ち上げではデータ取得用の模擬ペイロードを搭載するそうです。ファルコン9初号機にはドラゴン宇宙船機能制限ユニットが搭載されましたが、似たような感じでしょうか？ このフライトでは「not an operational Cygnus spacecraft」とありますので、今回の運用受注はこちらの事ではないですよね。となるとやはり7月のシグナス試験打ち上げでしょうか？ 現在はアンタレスの燃焼試験を行っている段階なのでその結果によっては多少時期がずれる可能性はあるかもですが。
という憶測は置いとくとして、これ以降も運用に絡むかどうかは気になります。
■Orbital Successfully Conducts First Stage "Hot Fire" Test of Antares Space Launch Vehicle [Orbital]
With the hot fire test complete, Orbital will purge and clean the engines of residual propellants and return the first stage test unit to the vehicle integration facility for full reconditioning. Shortly after completing pad and fueling systems post-test inspections and performing any necessary reconditioning work, Orbital will roll out the first complete two-stage Antares rocket to prepare it for the test flight, which is expected to take place in approximately six weeks.
こちらによると、先日の燃焼試験の結果を受けて6週間以内にアンタレスロケットの試験打ち上げが行われる見通しとなったようです。となるとやはりシグナス試験打ち上げは5月で間に合う可能性ありですね。
